The other day I was driving down Roosevelt Road and passed a corner near a fitness center. Here, on the corner was a man advertising for the center, while riding a stationary bike. My immediate thought was, "what on earth would Brad yell out the window at this guy?" He would have found this guy to be ridiculously funny. I know he would have come up with something quick, witty and probably a little crass. This was Brad. I remember having to use the child locks on the windows at times to keep Brad from shouting out of them. (I think Molly said she had done the same! haha!)
One of my favorite shouting out the car stories was when we were at a truck stop in Kentucky. Emily was a wee baby in the backseat and we were driving to Nashville. It was like a week before Christmas. We had filled up the tank and got some sodas. I even remember, we got Crystal Pepsi! Remember those??? As we were about to pull out of the truck stop we spotted a guy in a Santa suit standing at the entrance waving. Immediately, my hand went to the child lock at the same time Brad's hand went to roll down his window. I said, "NO WAY!! Forget it! You are not yelling at Santa!!" He said, "oh come on.....I was going to be nice and just say Merry Christmas." I thought about it for a minute. I let the child lock go......down goes the window......we pass Santa..... "MERRY CHRISTMAS ASSHOLE!!"
*gasp!*
"I can't believe you just called Santa an asshole!" and then we laughed our asses off. We recalled that story many times over the years and it would always bring a hearty chuckle....ya know, the Brad belly grabbing "ho ho ho" chuckle.
Dang, I miss you Brad. One of these days, I promise, I will yell at that guy on the stationary bike, just for you. I have to figure out something totally Brad worthy to say first, though.

Thank God for child locks! I
Sat, 06/07/2008 - 7:13amThank God for child locks! I wish they had those in cars years ago, I had forgotten Brad did that but as soon as I started reading it all came back to me and put the biggest smile on my face! Thank you. If you remember others, tell us. I can totally hear his voice in my head, yelling at Santa, as if I was there.

One day tell the guy to"slow
Sat, 06/07/2008 - 11:43pmOne day tell the guy to"slow down before you run into someone!" But Brad would be thinking, "Why doesn't he understand that he could be riding SOMEWHERE and seeing THE WORLD while he exercises?"

Yes, that's exactly what Brad
Sun, 06/08/2008 - 5:14pmYes, that's exactly what Brad would be thinking. haha! I know Brad saw biking as something so much more than exercise. I know he considered the exercise part of it a secondary benefit. He loved the zen of biking - becoming one with the machine, the organic quality of it. It was through this kind of attitude that he got me into it. I know he also enjoyed the challenge of a hard ride......
......and what a way to connect with the world.
I do like your idea of what to yell at the guy. :)
